Pie Baking Contest Rules
  1. Pie must be entered in the name of the person who made it. Please bring one pie per entry. Limit three entries per person.
  2. You MUST pre-register by Thursday, July 24th, to participate: www.timesfreepress.com/she
  3. Categories
    1. Professional: those who earn a portion of their living from baking or cooking
    2. Amateur: those who are not professional and do not receive payment for baking or cooking
  4. Each dessert pie must be made from scratch and based in a 9” pie plate/pan. Each pie must include a serving utensil and a cover. You may not use pie filling or pre-made store-bought crust.
  5. Prizes
    1. Top prize for each category receives a Ree Drummond autographed cookbook and a VIP meet & greet. Must be present to claim prize.
    2. 2nd and 3rd place in each category receives a Ree Drummond autographed photo.
  6. Pie Types
    1. Fruit (ex: Blackberry, Strawberry, Rhubarb)
    2. Other (ex: Pecan, Chess, Buckeye)
  7. Enter Pie
    1. Bring your pie to the Chattanooga Convention Center on the day of the Pie Contest (Saturday, July 26th) between 12:00 pm and 12:45 pm.
    2. Pies must be in appropriate covered container until judging.
  8. Judging
    1. 3 judges
    2. Criteria
      1. Overall Appearance
      2. Crust color, texture, doneness and flavor
      3. Filling consistency, doneness, and flavor
      4. Overall Taste
    3. Judging will start at 1:00 pm. Participants will be present during contest and judging.
    4. Winners will be announced at 2:00 pm after judging is complete.
    5. The decision of the judges is final. Judges will not know the contestant names.
  9. Disposition of Pies - All contestants must take their pies with them after winners are announced.
